The Watkin Society celebrates the lives and achievements of two of the most remarkable men in the Victorian Age, Absalom and Edward Watkin. Formed in 2019, the 200th anniversary year of the birth of Edward Watkin, The Watkin Society is campaigning to make their story widely known and not just in Manchester, where they lived and died.
The Watkin Society (WatSoc) has produced a plan that we hope will take the society forward over the next few years. This plan will tell you everything you would want to know about our aims and plans. We would love you to have a look as besides the details of the plan there are lots of interesting and informative sections on the Watkin story, the events that have led us here and how we intend to strengthen the Society.
The plan was formed by talking to the key people in WatSoc and through facilitation events held at St Wilfrid’s Church with a wider group of interested people and organisations.
We have two versions for you to download depending on your preference. One with illustrations and one that is just the text of the plan.
